Regulatory Committee Discusses GDPR with Attila Péterfalvi, President of The Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information

AmCham’s Regulatory Committee met Attila Péterfalvi, president of The Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (’NAIH’) to present and discuss the AmCham position on the planned modification of Act CXII of 2011 on Informational Self-Determination and Freedom of Information ("Privacy Act") which will be modified to harmonize Hungarian law with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) of the European Union to be implemented by 25 May, 2018.

Representatives of NAIH thanked the AmCham position drafted by several legal experts, consultants and lawyers of AmCham Members.

With the aim to help member companies’ preparations, the Regulatory Committee has worked out and also presented AmCham recommendations at this meeting on the possible responsibilities and requirements of a data protection officer (DPO), a position that will be required by the GDPR.

NAIH president Attila Péterfalvi thanked AmCham for the cooperation and invited the Regulatory Committee to give further input and continue consultations about the legislative modifications needed in several fields of law, to support the implementation process of the GDPR.
