The National Competitiveness Council with President Bársony Holds First Meeting

Competitiveness Council

Dedicated to improving the competitiveness of Hungary, the National Competitiveness Council was established with AmCham President Farkas Bársony on board.

"In order to catch up to most developed countries, it is essential to improve the productivity and competitiveness of our country" - said Mihály Varga, Minister for National Economy and Chairman of the Council after the inaugural session.

The subject of the first session was the improvement of the business regulatory environment, members of the council discussed the issues of company formation, construction permits, taxation and insolvency.

The Council consists of Minister Mihály Varga, Dr. Farkas Bársony,  President of AmCham Hungary and Managing Partner of GE Hungary, Róbert Ésik, President of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), Dale A. Martin, President of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CEO and Chairman of Siemens, Zsolt Hernádi, Chairman and CEO of MOL Group, Magdolna Csath, professor of Szent István University, Levente Jánoskuti, Managing Partner of the Budapest office of McKinsey & Company and Dr. László Parragh, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce.

The Council is planning to meet three times during the spring.
