Minister of Justice Welcomes AmCham Regulatory Committee

Regulatory Committee meets Minister Trócsányi

On February 16th, 2018, Minister of Justice László Trócsányi welcomed the delegation of AmCham’s Regulatory Committee led by Committee Chair Gábor Orosz and AmCham CEO Irisz Lippai-Nagy in his office.

At the meeting, representatives of the Regulatory Committee had the opportunity to discuss the status and hear out the standpoint of Minister Trócsányi and his expert colleagues, including Deputy State Secretary Zoltán Nemessányi and Deputy State Secretary László Péter Salgó, on a number of important legislative pieces. The Committee had reviewed and worked out an AmCham position on 13 different legislative drafts between January 2017 and February 2018, including the implementation of the GDPR and the planned transposition of the EU Directive on the Protection of Trade Secrets that have been discussed by the participants in more detail.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the regular, professional input provided by AmCham to the public consultation process of legislative drafts and thanked for the outstanding work of AmCham, and the Regulatory Committee in particular. The Minister also commented on AmCham’s ”Cooperation for a more competitive Hungary 2018” recommendation package that was published this January, and he also confirmed the Ministry’s openness in continuing the dialogue on those legislative issues that are important for AmCham, a prominent representative of the business community in Hungary.

A reliable and stable framework for cooperation and direct consultation is provided by the Strategic Partnership Agreement first signed in 2011, then re-confirmed in 2014. To discuss legislative priorities, a similar meeting was organized for Minister Trócsányi and the Regulatory Committee in January 2016, and then with Deputy State Secretary Zoltán Nemessányi, the key contact for AmCham, in February 2017.
