AmCham Hungary's General Assembly Elects New Board, with Ákos Janza at the Helm

December 10, 2024 (Budapest) – The American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (AmCham) is proud to announce that Ákos Janza, Managing Director, AI&HR Lead, and Global Head of Offices at MSCI, has been elected President by the membership at the XXXVI. General Assembly, succeeding Zoltán Szabó, Customer Sales and Service Experience Domain Lead at Deutsche Telekom TSI Hungary, after four years of dedicated service.


Zoltán Szabó concluded his presidency with the following thoughts and extended a warm welcome to the new leader:

“I would like to thank AmCham members for their continuous support and trust during my presidency over the past four years. I am grateful for the community we have built together, and I am confident that under the guidance of the new president, the Chamber will continue to thrive in the years ahead. Congratulations to Ákos Janza on his election as President and to all re-elected and newly elected Board members on their successful appointment! Our strong and united business community, combined with the vision of the new leadership, provides a solid foundation to drive positive change through collaborative solutions. “


Ákos Janza the new president shared:

“It is an honor to have been elected. Over the past year as a Board Member, I have witnessed how vital collaboration is in creating a competitive, transparent and innovation-friendly business environment. I believe that AmCham’s work – whether it is advocacy, knowledge- sharing initiatives, or business events – serves the long-term interests of all our members. And my main goal is to strengthen our role in shaping economic policy through dialogue.”


The position of First Vice President will be held by Veronika Spanarova, Managing Director and Country Head for Hungary at Citi. The membership elected László Kónya, Managing Director of Deutsche Telekom TSI Hungary as the Chamber's new Second Vice President.

During the elections, five additional members were elected to the Board of Directors: Edit Bencsik, Head of Marketing and Government Relations at Tata Consultancy Services; Gabriella Fodor, Managing Director of Lexmark; Dániel Mayer, Managing Director and Head of Risk Management at Morgan Stanley Hungary Analytics; Mónika Pais, Managing Director of Diageo; and Krisztina Ujhelyi, Capital & Spine Business Leader at Medtronic.

The Supervisory Board’s new Chair is Mike Carlson, succeeding Dr. Andrea Jádi-Németh, Managing Partner at bpv Jádi Németh Attorneys at Law.
