The European Union works on several legislative proposals which aim to use the ongoing digital transformation to strengthen digital sovereignty and set standards with a clear focus on data, technology, and infrastructure.
These proposals address many different elements of the digital transformation.
Digital Services Act (DSA) aims at creating a transparent framework for online service providers, users, platforms, and public authorities in order the protect consumers and their fundamental rights online.
Digital Market Act (DMA) sets up rules for platforms with strong economic position in order to ensure a fairer business environment for business users whose market access depend on these gatekeepers.
The proposal for a new legislative framework on artificial intelligence want to make sure that AI systems used in the EU are safe, transparent, ethical, unbiased and under human control. The proposals on data governance and the setting up of European Data Spaces creates the enabling framework for using the data for innovation and enhanced technology in a safe way.
